In the 21st century, we are faced with incredible challenges in our effort to provide women’s health care for an expanding culturally diverse community. The Center for Women’s Health Research (CWHR) is dedicated to conducting research on health issues that disproportionately affect women of color by providing a physical and administrative locus where scientists from many disciplines can come together to share insights and methods and deepen the understanding of the cellular, molecular, socio-behavioral and clinical aspects of women’s health. Specific areas of research currently include reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. As we look to the future of the CWHR, we envision a growing awareness and appreciation of each other’s culture by exploring ways to elevate the advancement of scientific research for populations vulnerable to disparities in health care.

The mission of the Center for Women’s Health Research is to develop culturally sensitive models of health research and intervention that address health disparities in women of color in an integrated and holistic manner.
